Slovenske železnice × Digital Agora

One central information point for employees across a railway group

The Slovenske železnice Group comprises the parent company Slovenske železnice and eight subsidiaries. The SŽ Group employs more than 8,000 people. Some employees work in offices and specialist services; others work at stations, on trains, in workshops, infrastructure maintenance and other operational roles.

For internal communication, an organization like this presents a distinct challenge. Important information needs to be clearly organized, quick to access and useful for employees who reach it in different ways and at different points in the working day.

The redesign of the old intranet was therefore not only a technological or visual update. The goal was to create a more modern and useful digital starting point for news, documents, contacts, instructions and other content for everyday work. This led to MojSZ, the new intranet of Slovenske železnice on the Digital Agora platform.

The challenge

Give employees fast access to the right information

In an old intranet, many years of content had accumulated, including information that was outdated or difficult to find. The redesign therefore involved more than setting up a new intranet: it also meant reviewing, cleaning up and reorganizing the existing content.

At the same time, a new information structure was designed around employees’ needs rather than the organizational structure of Slovenske železnice. Users do not need to know which department or service is responsible for a particular piece of content. What matters is finding the information where they expect it based on their need.

The solution

MojSZ became the central digital environment for employees

MojSZ is no longer just a place to publish internal news. It brings current information, everyday work content and services employees need into one environment.

Employees can follow news and the Nova proga magazine, find colleagues in the directory and access the What I need to know area, forms and other useful content. Policies also have a dedicated place, with MojSZ displaying them directly from the document system. Users can see current versions and, where needed, previous versions maintained through an organized document-management process.

MojSZ also includes learning content that helps employees in their daily work, from instructions for carrying out specific procedures to using information tools and other internal knowledge.

Personal eDocuments are another important part of MojSZ’s development. Employees can access their documents directly through the web portal or mobile app, including payslips. eDocuments are being rolled out progressively across all Group companies, making MojSZ more than a communication channel and increasingly a practical entry point to employee services.

The value

What improved in employee communication

MojSZ moved internal communication from scattered content to a more organized and useful digital environment. Employees can reach current information more easily, content is organized around their needs, and the intranet supports everyday work and collaboration as well as communication.

Information is easier to find

Content is no longer organized primarily by departments and services, but so users can reach information based on what they need.

Current content has a clear place

News, policies, instructions and other important information are brought together in a shared environment. Users can see current policy versions and, where needed, previous versions.

The intranet also helps with everyday work

MojSZ is more than a communication channel. Employees can also find procedures, learning content, help with IT tools, forms and other practical information.

Communication has become more two-way

Posts and comments allow employees to be more than recipients of information: they can respond and participate in internal communication.

The ability to access important work information anytime, anywhere is a real game changer.

For a workforce spread across locations and operational roles, mobile access removes the need to wait for a shared computer or return to an office.
